Who are you and how long have you been in business?
Hitchcock Shoes has been an independent, family-owned business since our founding in 1951, not
associated with any other direct marketer or other catalog company. We are wide shoe specialists;
we deal only in men's shoes in EEE through EEEEEE widths. The more than 200 styles shown in our
catalog are made especially for us in well-known factories in the U.S.A. and overseas. Over the
years, we have filled more than 2.5 million orders for our wide-width shoes.

How are you different from other online shoe companies?
Wide shoes aren't an "extra" part of our business; they are our only business. We keep
individual records of our customers' buying histories and fitting preferences so we can help you
when you place new orders. We pride ourselves on our personalized service and have many customers
who have been getting their shoes exclusively from us for decades.

What widths and sizes do you carry?
For simplicity and clarity, widths are now given in our catalog as follows:
EEE = 3E
EEEE = 4E
EEEEE = 5E
EEEEEE = 6E
In size range descriptions, a hyphen between two numbers indicates we stock
whole and half sizes between those two sizes. Thus, "5-12, 13, 14, 15, 3E and 5E"
means we carry both EEE and EEEEE widths in whole and half sizes from size 5
through but whole sizes only in 13, 14 and 15.

What is a shoe last?
The term "last" used throughout our catalog refers, quite simply,
to the wooden or heavy plastic form over which a shoe is constructed.
Since few factories have the lasts and other equipment to make shoes wider
than EE, we have had to develop the special equipment needed to make
shoes in widths to EEEEEE. Our lasts all have the extra fullness
wide feet require, but they vary a little to suit the particular type
of shoes made on them.
